Description

This project provides new sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian signal heads along a one-and-a-half mile section of Golf Road, improving access to three Pace fixed routes that operate on the corridor (#209, #606, and #757). Several major employers are located on this corridor and it has also been chosen by Pace as a potential Arterial Rapid Transit (ART) route.

Description

The project improved access to Pace Routes #383 and #386 by providing new sidewalks and infill sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian signal heads. These improvements provide connections to existing sidewalk networks, a recreational center, and residential, commercial, and office land uses.

Description

This project includes installation of pedestrian and bicycle improvements that provide enhanced access to Pace Route 301, including the installation of pedestrian signal heads, crosswalks, ADA compliant sidewalk ramps, and sidewalks along or connecting to Route 301. These improvements expand the existing sidewalk networks, providing links to the Glen Ellyn South Bike Route, nearby residential areas, a senior housing complex, and nearby commercial and office land uses.

This project consisted of access improvements in the Midlothian Metra station area including removal and replacement of 8,542 square feet of sidewalk, installation of 1,268 feet of crosswalks, installation of ADA handicapped panels/ detectable warnings at 68 locations, and pedestrian lighting improvements on 147th Street from Pulaski to Central Park.

Description

Improvements include covered and non-covered bicycle parking, as well as an ADA ramp at the Village's Yellow stations. The Dempster station will receive 36 additional bicycle parking spots, an improved sidewalk connection to the bicycle parking, and an ADA accessible ramp. At Oakton-Skokie station, bicycle parking will be added to accommodate 30 additional bicycles.

Current Activities

Skokie needs to coordinate with ComEd and with IDOT in order to get this project the approval to proceed.

Description

The project improved bicycle access to the Mount Prospect Metra station and downtown area with the installation of shelters and concrete pads to accommodate 60 new covered bicycle parking spaces.

Current Activities

The project was completed in fall of 2017. Improvements are making transit more accessible to cyclists, potentially increasing ridership along the Union Pacific Northwest Line. These improvements have also increased bicycle access to Pace Routes 234 (which has a shelter at Northwest Highway and Emerson) and 694 (stops at Prospect Avenue and Main Street).
