RTA logo Skokie Swift Oakton Street Station Area Improvement

Project Description

Improvements complementing new CMAQ funded Oakton Street station on the CTA Yellow Line. Improvements include: bus stops, bus, and taxi access lanes, sheltered waiting areas, pedestrian walkways, shared vehicle lanes, kiss and ride, bicycle parking, and landscape improvements. Funding: 2008 ICE: $1,297,389

Current Activities:The Oakton Street Station opened in April 2012. The village completed the the Kiss'n'Ride with two bus turnouts, and a sidewalk funded by the ICE grant. The final phase of the project consisting of streetscaping and landscaping was completed in September 2013. Oakton Station served 23,225 passengers in November 2013. In 2015, Skokie received CMAQ program funding, via the RTA's Access to Transit Improvement Program, for additional bicycle parking at the Oakton Station.
